Project - BARN

Location: Henley-on-Thames, UK

Total Size: 200 m2

Status: Completed

The project consisted in the complete interior refurbishment and fit-out of a 300 years old Barn situated in the Harpsden area, adjacent to the grade II listed St. Margaret’s Church Harpsden.

The existing layout at the lower ground floor level was preventing the communication among the different living areas. Therefore, it was necessary to reconfigure the internal layout offering open spaces and improving the circulation and communication between floors. Removing the storage room that was dividing the lounge area with the dinning area helped to create a visual link where the kitchen became the centre space of this floor.

A built-in L shape sofa in the lounge area creates the link between the formal living area with the dining.

The continuous polished concrete flooring and the encaustic cement area contrast with the oak timber flooring in the rest of the house.

The dining area is defined by a patch area in the flooring with a designed geometric encaustic cement tile.

A new layout for the first floor included opening the original office where now introduces foldable screen divider with metal structure and translucent glass that will add privacy when necessary.

The guest’s bathroom is updated with a new walking shower and geometric tiles that add sophistication and sense of space.

I would strongly recommend Laura’s design services because of her contemporary design style
and her approach that feels fresh and new. Furthermore Laura’s design proposals are always top
professional and well prepared ahead of design meetings. Finally Laura’s design is great to look at
and even better to “live in” as it is equally homely and well designed.
